The choice is yours!

Jan 13th, 2015

Heard an interestingTed Talk today - Choose Yourself by James Altucher. The talk had the general components to it about self-awareness and discipline that I've read elsewhere, but the title was so empowering and such a fabulous reminder!
For those who are constantly taking care of the needs of others, remember it is just as important to listen to your heart and mind, and care for yourself! It is not a selfish act, in fact it is a self-preserving, self-empowering act - one that you should indulge in on a daily basis:) Choosing yourself and taking care of yourself allows you to do more for others and do it from the heart..
It is wise to be mindful of:
  • what it is you want to do,
  • who it is you want to be,
  • and to unabashedly, prioritize yourself!!
Interestingly, the speaker, James Altucher has also written a book called the Power of No. What a fabulous title and again such an important perspective.

Why do we perpetually feel compelled:
  • to be agreeable for no good reason,
  • to say yes to things that we really don't want to do just to keep the peace or go with the flow,
  • to allow people to come and go into our lives as they please, or
  • to overwhelm ourselves with all the mindless tasks that come our way or that we create?
It is wise to remember that it is totally ok to:
  • say NO,
  • to conserve our energy,
  • to direct that energy to things that matter to us, &
  • to walk away from anything that doesn't add to our growth.
Life is short..Use your time wisely..Make each moment count.
